Condor Monitors Columbia Dam
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers selected Condor Earth Technologies
Inc. to implement an automated real-time GPS monitoring system to
measure within 1 millimeter the vertical and horizontal displacements
along the crest of the Chief Joseph Dam on the Columbia River in
Bridgeport, Washington.
Condor is deploying five GPS sensors along the crest of the intake
structure of the dam, the second-largest producer of hydroelectric
power operated by the Corps, and one GPS sensor on a nearby active
landslide. Integrating one GPS reference station, the monitoring
project will closely mirror one completed by Condor two years ago at
Libby Dam in Montana.
