Weird problem with DSR 922 |
|
|
A couple of days ago, I had the satellite tuned to G1 8 and everything
was working perfectly. I left the satellite on because I was planning
on coming back to it after working on something else. About three
hours later, I realized that I wouldn't be able to get back to watching
it. So, I went in and was about to turn off everything when I noticed
something odd which has happened before.
G1 8 was entirely blacked and the menu itself was, well, all squiggles.
I tried other satellites and realized it was not an isolated
occurence. I'm pretty sure that I tried the digital channels, but now
I'm not sure because after having shut off the receiver for a day the
digital channels seemed to work just fine.
The weird thing is that for the analog channels, I can adjust the
receiver's audio settings to stereo instead of Videocipher Stereo, so
if the transponder is properly tuned the sound is beautiful, but I
can't see anything. Well, now I see horrible squiggles where I
originally saw only black. (Think badly scrambled porn on those old
cable systems, but that you still can't catch a glimspe of the good
stuff.) Even weirder is that MSNBC which is on G1 10 is fairly clear,
but the sound using normal stereo is somewhat crappy.
I do know there is a way to fix it because this has happened before.
Someone called Netlink because the last time it happened they had a
tech guy that fixed the problem right over the phone. I was told to
push the "Options" button then was given a sequence of buttons--just
numbers I think--to push on the remote and the problem was solved. Too
bad I don't remember what the sequence was because the person who
called found out that Netlink hasn't had technicians for six months.
Any help would be appreciated. |

Are you seeing this problem on analog ITC channels like PBS on T6-8?
Try pulling the videocipher module out if the unit and cleaning the connectors
with a pencil eraser and see what happens.
