EWTN is on C-band to cable operators meaning unless I go c-band I will
not be able to get this channel. On ku-band even if EWTN is free there is
no way I can get this channel, right ? Any idea why ? Any idea who I can
go to to check this out ?
EWTN, operating on donations, maintains a C-band presence on two |
transponders, one analog, one digital, to supply retransmitters (cable and
LSD). Ku transmissions eminate from pay providers. The number of additional
people EWTN could reach with the addition of a Ku signal is insignificant.
It's simply not the best use of their limited resources. Should you offer to
foot the bill for Ku transponder space, I'm sure Mother Angelica (I call her
Sister Satellite) would be happy to oblige.
All free direct to home is C-band. Info is here:
http://www.ewtn.com/tv/G1Rsatellite.htm
You need either:
Standard C-band setup to receive main EWTN analog signal.
or
Digital FTA C-band setup to receive the foreign language assortment.
To receive signal rebroadcast by Dish or Direct TV, you will have to pay for
their packages.
You may be able to get acceptable C-band signal with a smallish (5ft) dish
depending on your geographical location. Basically, the closer you are to
Kansas, the better. There are no analog signals currently on the satellites
adjacent to G1R at transponder 11. AMC 11 is unused and AMC 10 has
digicipher signal according to Lyngsat.

I hope someone can help me. I purchased a Coolsat 4000 Pro, Stabb motor and a 36 in dish. I was told that this is what I need to receive stations from South America like Argentina, Ecuador and Chile. I can't find much at all but Asian and Arab stations which I'm not at all interested in. Is there anything I can do? I do have an extra dish 36X26 if adding one would help me out. I"m really frustrated and at my wits end. I paid $450.00 bucks to have it set up and I find nothing I wish to see. can anyone help me out.
Thanks.
