I have problems with "ABC News Now" in IA-6 ...

Postby Pseud O. Nym » Fri Oct 14, 2005 11:08 am

According to the listings on Lyngsat.com the "ABC News Now" transponder
on IA-6 at 93w is a FREE channel available for viewing but I have always
had a problem with jittery video. There are always some momentary freezes
and artifacting and just plain jittery video. The audio is always fine.

The signal strength and quality is good and I double-checked all the
various settings. The only discrepancy I found was in the transponder's
frequency. Lyngsat lists it as 12042 Mhz and my receiver showed it as
12043 Mhz. I tried both settings with no discernable difference.

I don't have any similar problems on any other channels. Am I the only
one with this problem ???

Also does anyone know of any other 24-hour news channels available to us
Ku band FTA users ???

Thanks,

PON

I just tuned and watched ABC News Now for about a half hour and had none
of the problems you describe. Granted I'm probably in the middle of the
footprint (Missouri), but I also have only a 6.5' dish.

In the whatever it's worth department.

Thanks for the response, Rich.

What type of receiver did you use ?

I don't mind buying a new receiver as long as it has the AC-3 audio
capability that is required for PBS signals on AMC3.

My receiver is a Fortec Lifetime that I purchased in late 2003 so it is
getting a little "long in the tooth" as FTA receivers go.

Thanks,

PON

I have the same problem. I am using SA d9234's. I cant get the ABC
feeds on IA 6, although I used to until about 4 months ago. I also have
this problem with WDSU on IA 8 and the NBC Channel on AMC 1 I think.
its as if they all are using some kind of encryption.
