Is there an adapter that will convert the genuine TomTom wired receiver to a
USB or RS232 port available ?

Not that I know of, is this for use on a PC? It would be easy enough to
make one.

Yep it's to be used on my new works laptop in conjunction with Autoroute.

The end of the receiver is a RJ11 male, so is there a way to adapt it to
either USB or RS232 (Serial 9 pin) ?

This might work assuming the PS/2 plug is wired conventionally:

Hmmmmm
Does that mean I can attach the adapter to the keyboard port then?
or will I need to go from that cable to another to fit to the USB?

Attach straight to the PS/2 port.
